Meet and Greet Volunteer: A&E Reception Over 18 Only
About this role:
At Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, we have a simple mission – Personal and Compassionate Care Every Time. Our volunteers help to enhance the patient experience and complement the work of paid members of staff.
A&E requires Meet and Greet volunteers to welcome patients and visitors and assist with escorting relatives to their family members in A&E.
Commitment: Weekday Mornings/Lunchtimes for at least 6 months.
What are the key tasks?
* Signing in and out at the beginning and end of your shift, and checking in with staff team members on arrival.
* Escorting and/or directing patients/visitors to their relative in A&E.
* Talking to patients in the waiting area.
* Assisting with offering drinks to patients who have been waiting a long time.
* Providing information about local amenities e.g., Coffee Shops, High Street, Bus Stops.
* Assisting with the booking of taxis and/or providing information about travel e.g., Train, Bus travel, Car Parking.
* Reporting any damages or safety concerns (e.g., wet floors during rainy weather, water being dropped) to the appropriate department.
* Keeping tidy the leaflets etc. in the main entrance and reception area.
What skills, knowledge, and experience are helpful in this role?
* Likes to keep busy and does not mind approaching people who look like they need help.
* Motivation and willingness to learn and complete training.
* Understanding of confidentiality.
* Physically fit enough to carry out the role.
* Friendly and approachable with good interpersonal skills and able to interact with a diverse range of people.
* Understands the importance of commitment.
* Would understand and apply the Trust’s CARE values.
Essential requirement/commitment:
* Volunteers must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
* All Volunteers will require a DBS check.
* Participation in the training relevant to your role and confidential discussion of any reasonable adjustments required to meet your needs.
