The Client Portfolio Manager will work with a portfolio of strategic industrial and commercial customers. This role involves designing, implementing, and managing energy risk management and hedging frameworks tailored to each client’s unique needs.
The position requires a deep understanding of energy market fundamentals and mechanics. This expertise will be applied to help clients navigate the complexities of the wholesale energy market and achieve optimal price performance under their chosen strategies. This is an opportunity to drive value in a dynamic and evolving industry.
Responsibilities:
1. Build and maintain excellent relationships and deliver exceptional levels of service to our valuable risk-managed and strategic customer portfolio.
2. Partner with customers to understand their energy hedging requirements and risk appetite, and recommend and transact optimal hedging strategies.
3. Develop wholesale market knowledge and expertise to make informed and optimal decisions based on a customer’s portfolio position.
4. Continually monitor customer positions and performance, benchmarking against metrics and striving at all times to deliver results above customer expectations.
5. Conduct regular market update calls with customers to explain how developments in the wholesale markets may affect their costs.
6. Collaboratively produce insightful written daily wholesale market reports for customers, using expert market knowledge to inform price outlooks.
7. Actively participate in renewals and sales activity.
8. Ensure all customer hedging is within the bounds of the FPS product, recording all trades in a timely and compliant manner and trading within the bounds of a pre-agreed strategy.
9. Provide support to the Flex Optimisation team, transacting with our Flex customer portfolio.
The Candidate:
1. Detailed understanding of wholesale markets and drivers.
2. Strong analytical capability.
3. Ability to proactively identify key issues and opportunities, create clarity and insight and provide effective support and challenge to senior customers and stakeholders.
4. Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to deal effectively and confidently with individuals at all levels.
5. Educated to degree level or equivalent.
6. Experience working directly with customers.
7. Previous experience of risk management, trading or hedging.
8. Advanced Excel, VBA, Power BI skills or similar.
9. A drive for continuous improvement with prior experience of driving change through ways of working, identifying opportunities for commercial optimisation and unlocking value.
10. An understanding of the Industrial & Commercial energy supply business.
This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
