What's involved with this role:
Interim Local Taxation Officer
Location: Nuneaton (Remote working)
Key Requirements:
* A minimum of 2 years' experience of working in a Local Taxation or Debt Collection environment.
* Knowledge of Local Taxation legislation.
* Knowledge of billing systems.
* Competent with Microsoft Office Packages, particularly Word and Excel and inputting and processing data within these programmes.
* Ability to compose non-standard letters.
The post holder will need to have Civica open revenues experience and will assist with the administration of council tax and non-domestic rates, processing amendments including changes to occupation, banding or rateable value, direct debits, entitlement to reliefs, discounts, exemptions and changes to payments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deal with the effective processing of billing and collection with regard to Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates.
* Process amendments including changes to occupation, banding or Rateable Value, direct debits, entitlement to reliefs, discounts, exemptions and changes to payment methods in respect of Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rate accounts.
* Deal with all enquiries from members of the public, businesses and other agencies by way of telephone, private interview, personal visit, written correspondence, electronic means or via the enquiry counter.
* Process refunds of overpaid Council Tax and NNDR in accordance with the appropriate limits set by the authority.
* Undertake tracing work to locate absconders and, where appropriate, prepare cases for write-off where the debtor cannot be traced.
* To process work for bankruptcy related matters.
* Setting up sundry debt accounts for use by Service Units.
* Assist in the detection and prevention of fraudulent applications in respect of Council Tax or Non-Domestic Rates.
