Job Description
A background in telecoms is essential.
This is a hybrid role where you'll work alongside your colleagues in your local office 2-3 times per week.
Our goal at CityFibre is to unlock the digital potential of Britain by creating a broadband network that works seamlessly for everyone, every day. Powerful, gigabit-speed connections that enable people across entire communities to enjoy life in full flow. To do this, we make sure that our people’s voices are heard, their ideas are welcomed, and everyone is given the opportunity to make a real impact.
What you can expect from us
Everyone at CityFibre has an important part to play, and we reflect that in our benefits. With a salary of up to £62,000 depending on experience, when you join us, you’ll also enjoy 25 days’ holiday, a day off on your birthday, a day off to support a charity or organisation of your choice, a performance-related bonus scheme, and private healthcare.
How you’ll change it up
Joining us as our Senior IP Capacity Planner, you’ll be responsible for planning and delivering the active service portfolio, including activities like system and network administration and project management. Some of your core areas of focus will be design and delivery, operational monitoring, and operational management. Day to day, this is some of what you can expect to be doing:
1. Modelling and monitoring new active city networks
2. Identifying and expanding the existing network, as needed
3. Delivering short, medium, and long-term forecasts for all network components
4. Incrementally improving network capacity monitoring and operational excellence through automation and AI
5. Initiating, building, and managing vendor relationships to secure repeatable supply chains
What you’ll bring to the role
You’ll already have a solid understanding of platform monitoring, which alongside your excellent analytical and numerical skills will really help you to shine in this role. You’ll also bring the following with you:
6. Good understanding of IP routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF and ISIS
7. Good understanding of MPLS, LDP and RSVP
8. Layer 2 technologies, with an emphasis on ethernet
9. Experience in backplane capacity and ISP 95 percentile reporting
10. Rack space and power allowance
11. Experience working on the development of bespoke capacity planning tools
We’re looking for people who don’t settle for ‘good enough’ and push things forward. If you’ve just found yourself thinking, ‘I’d love to do this’, we want to hear from you. Let’s change it up.
