About this opportunity
We are looking for a proven leader and manager with a passion for delivering high-quality services. You will be a dynamic and experienced individual as the Adverse Weather Operations Manager leading in the planning, organising and control of the delivery of several multi-professional services to meet the objectives of agreed emergency plans and service business plans, in an effective and efficient manner, as part of the Management Team.
You will take a lead role in delivering and improving the Council's response to Winter services, Adverse weather, out-of-hours activities, and other associated service pressures. You will report to and deputise, when required, for the Lead Operations Manager.
To succeed in this role, you will need significant experience in operational management, ideally in highways or civil engineering, with expertise in winter services, adverse weather response, and highway delivery issues like asset, project, and risk management. Strong knowledge of systems such as weather forecasting and vehicle telematics, along with experience working with partners, influencing stakeholders, and managing contracts, is essential. Effective communication skills, a relevant degree or NVQ Level 5, and professional body membership in engineering or management are also required.
