The role
We are looking for a Qualified Lawyer to join our Group Legal team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of law and entertainment, where no two days are the same.
As the Legal Advisor, you will be responsible for advising on disputes and litigation matters across the ITV business.
Responsibilities:
* Manage contentious legal matters (pre-action and litigation) across the ITV business, including IP, commercial, licensing and contract disputes
* Provide expert legal advice to stakeholders across the business on issues with the potential for financial, operational and/or reputational impact for ITV
* Collaborate with other Legal & Business Affairs teams and ITV's insurance team to ensure disputes are managed effectively
* Proactively manage external law firms instructed in relation to litigation matters, including ensuring matters are managed cost effectively
* Support ITV's anti-piracy activities
Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)
* Qualified lawyer with at least 2+ years PQE, ideally with experience in the media industry
* Experience of working in a contentious role, in-house or in private practice
* Strong experience in IP and/or commercial litigation
Other things we're looking for (key criteria)
* A commercially-minded lawyer with experience of working in a busy, deadline driven environment
* Experience of managing a number of competing priorities for multiple stakeholders within short timeframes
* First class written communication skills
* Excellent organisation, time management and matter management skills
* Adaptable, positive approach to a varied workload and the ability to show initiative and be proactive in dealing with issues
* Ability to take a practical, sensible approach and find commercial solutions to meet the objectives of the business
* Ability to build relationships across the business and become a trusted advisor
* Experience of working on complex high value litigation as well as the effective management of smaller matters
* Experience of dealing with anti-piracy matters desirable
