Main duties of the job Working within the Pre-operative assessments (POA) department you will be responsible for a caseload of patients and leading the pre-operative team. This involves taking targeted medical histories, assessing past medical, surgical, and anesthetic histories, and ensuring appropriate pathways are identified through clinical triage of patient Health Questionnaires. Assisting in implementing local and national processes for bookings to alleviate pressure points and ensure a seamless patient journey. Performing tests in line with NICE guidelines (NG45), actioning on these results, and initiating referrals to appropriate colleagues/Departments when necessary. Identifying patients with specific health concerns, applying relevant risk scoring, and managing outcomes appropriately. Reviewing previous anesthetic records, demonstrating understanding of key factors requiring anesthetist referral and ensuring timely follow-up on referral outcomes. About us Leicester Hospital.
