Join us, make a difference and help shape the future of energy. Job Description: Department: Origination EDF Trading’s origination team specialise by product and by region. They work with a wide range of wholesale market counterparts such as utilities, transportation companies, large commodity consumers and producers as well as renewables power asset owners. EDF Trading’s origination activities are directed toward both the EDF Group internal portfolio as well as third parties, and cover the whole range of the commodities spectrum with a primary goal to complement the standard product related trading activities with non-standard contractual or asset based positions. The origination team can offer structured transactions tailored to the needs of market counterparties. These transactions may involve a number of different commodities, be long-term and have physical and derivative components. The origination team is involved in acquiring physical assets as well as arranging long-term purchase and sale contracts across the energy markets. EDF Trading has a strong position in flow trading with Stadtwerke, regional suppliers and utilities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The originators are in charge of establishing the contact with these counterparties and attracting the flow business to EDFT. Position purpose The job holder will be in charge of developing access to the market segment of corporate and industrial customers Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Regular calls with these counterparties and the creation of a strong network with traders and portfolio managers of these counterparties is essential. He/she will market EDFTs commodity trading services to the customers including gas, power, green energy for short mid and long tenors as well as PPAs, green certificates, biomethane or financial oil or coal products He/she will work closely together with the Origination team for Germany, Austria and Switzerland and assist in identifying opportunities for structured or long term transactions. The job holder will work in close cooperation with the flow and PPA desk. For this the job holder will establish good working relationship with middle office and back office functions. Good cooperation with other EDF companies active in the German market will be useful. Experience required Previous experience in the European gas, oil or electricity markets is essential. 5-10 years work experience in energy industry Marketing or sales acumen is an essential requirement. Technical requirements Graduate qualification in business/marketing/sales or other social studies or equivalent workplace experience Person specification German language skills, ideally as native language Excellent sales and communication skills Good analytical skills Experience of working in a fast paced environment is essential Strong own drive, satisfaction taken from deals done High frustration tolerance Proactive Willingness to travel Hours of work: 8.00am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday Regular travel to Europe is required.
