Whippendell Marine specialises in the design and manufacture of electrical equipment for naval ships and submarines. We have been supplying the Royal Navy since the 1930s and can trace our origins back to the start of the twentieth century.

We are seeking a capable and well-educated individual to assist our quality manager and production manager with a range of work arising from our expansion and continual improvement activities. This is initially a 12-month contract but with the potential to extend the role based on performance and requirements of the business.
The candidate will work across both quality and production departments according to the needs of the business. This role is well suited to year-in-industry students or graduates seeking a career in quality, manufacturing, or production management.

About the role:
In this role, the candidate will gain a wide array of experience across our quality, production, stores, and engineering departments. Supporting our quality manager and production manager, activities may include:
* General quality investigations,
* Investigating non-conformances and returns and raising concessions,
* Monitoring and recording Key Performance data,
* Managing and updating tasks on our project management software,
* Recording quality data, analysing, and creating reports,
* Health and safety activities,
* Authoring procedures and technical documents,
* Development of production build guides and bill of material reviews,
* Compiling evidence packs,
* Goods-in quality inspections,
* Maintaining factory cleanliness and foreign object control processes,
* Monitoring adherence to all process,
* Developing workmanship standards document,
* Photographing equipment,
* Factory reconfiguration and maintenance,
* Maintenance of kanban bins and systems,
* Carrying out stock checks and maintaining stock records,
* Identifying, archiving infrequently used tools and jigs,
* Transferring files to our document management system,
* Process reviews and audits,
* Compliance checking,
* Supplier reviews and audits;
and a wide range of other activities across each department. You will need to be flexible and adaptable and prepared to do whatever is asked of you and whatever it takes to get the job done.
Mechanical design: There may also be an opportunity to work with our engineering team in the area of mechanical design and CAD, in particular Autodesk Inventor 3D and Autodesk 2D work.
Requirements:
The role is based full-time at our Milton Keynes factory. Please note that because of the defence related nature of our business you will be required to undergo basic BPSS security clearance vetting and potentially SC as well as meeting special nationality rules.
