Planning Enforcement Officer - Braintree District Council

Braintree District Council has an exciting opportunity for a Planning Enforcement Officer to join their Planning Enforcement team based in Braintree, Essex.
This role is pivotal within the team, and you will be responsible for a diverse caseload of planning enforcement cases, including all the related case management and customer liaison. You will have strong interpersonal, persuasion, and negotiation skills with experience of bringing contraventions to a resolution in a fair and proportionate manner.
Key Responsibilities:
* Investigation of alleged breaches of planning control in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
* Undertaking site investigations and evidence gathering.
* Conducting out-of-hours inspections, surveys, or investigations as required.
* Taking statements and conducting recorded interviews under caution.
* Liaising with key stakeholders.
* Making informed recommendations and determining the need for formal action.
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
* Preparing, issuing, and serving legal documentation.
* Reporting regularly to the Enforcement Manager on inspections and investigations.
* Updating customers and Members in accordance with Council policies.
* Providing cover and support for other Officers during periods of absence.
* Preparing evidence for written representation appeals and representing the Council at hearings and inquiries.
* Assisting with the administration of Appeals.
Experience Required:
We welcome applications from Planning Enforcement Officers looking for a new challenge or candidates with similar experience. You should ideally have experience working on a range of planning enforcement matters and a working knowledge of CPIA and PACE rules.
