Children and Young People's Crisis Practitioner
Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHSFT
This is an exciting opportunity to join our established Children and Young People's 24/7 Crisis team, shaping how Emergency & Urgent Care is experienced by Children and Young People and those who care for them across various base points including Flying Scotsman (Doncaster), St Nicholas House (North Lincolnshire), and Kimberworth Place (Rotherham).
We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated clinician. The successful candidate will be part of our skilled, multidisciplinary team and play a key role in delivering the service. Our staff are highly valued and instrumental in the team's development. All Clinicians in our service are offered the opportunity to develop skills and experience in this area through the induction process, internal/external training, Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and supervision.
Main Duties of the Job
The service operates 24/7 to provide crisis mental health assessment and interventions for Children and Young People in various settings. Team members will have the flexibility of working a variety of shift patterns to promote their wellbeing while ensuring that we meet the service requirements.
Clinical knowledge and relevant experience of assessing and managing risk within a mental health or social care setting is essential. Continuing support and development opportunities will be provided. Professional registration with HCPC, Social Work England, or the NMC is required.
Key components of the role include comprehensive mental health risk assessment, planning crisis interventions, providing 7-day follow-ups, and appropriately safeguarding young people. You will work collaboratively to promote safety and support young people and their family/carers through face-to-face work, via the RDaSH Crisis Line, and by utilising technology. The post also involves liaison with other services and external agencies to ensure effective pathways of care.
This is an extremely rewarding and challenging role. You will be working as part of a team and need a high level of emotional resilience to support young people and families at times of distress. You may also be required to work alone at times and need to prioritize work to be flexible to meet the service needs. It is also essential that you have the ability to travel to attend assessments.
