Learning Support Assistant (Full-Time)
Location: Southfields, SW19
Start Date: February 2024
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Southfields. This full-time role involves providing one-to-one support for a child in Reception who has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and exhibits challenging behaviours.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Building a positive and trusting relationship with the child, promoting their emotional and social development.
2. Supporting the child in accessing the Early Years curriculum, tailoring activities to meet their individual needs.
3. Implementing strategies to manage and reduce challenging behaviours effectively, following guidance from the school's SENCO and external professionals.
4. Encouraging the child's independence and participation in classroom and school activities.
5. Collaborating closely with teachers, parents, and specialists to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.
The Ideal Candidate:
1. Experience supporting children with ASD and/or additional needs, particularly in an Early Years setting.
2. Calm, patient, and empathetic, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Confident in implementing behaviour management strategies and adapting to the needs of the child.
4. A proactive team player who can work collaboratively with the school staff and contribute to the positive ethos of the school.
5. Knowledge of SEND practices and frameworks is highly desirable.
