The Opportunity
Founded in 1929, Prestfelde is a happy and flourishing school of around 350 pupils, aged 3-13, and part of the Woodard Corporation of Schools. A thriving, fully co-educational school, set amidst 30 acres of beautiful grounds in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
The Governors and Head are seeking to appoint a strategic thinker who is financially astute, analytical and commercially minded to be the new Bursar at Prestfelde. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the continued success of one of the UK’s leading independent prep schools.
In addition to the operational oversight of all support areas including finance, HR, estate management, risk management, compliance, health and safety and legal, the Bursar will work in close partnership with both the Head and the Governors in order to deliver the School’s 2029 Centenary Strategy and associated Development Plans.
In order to apply for this position, you will need to satisfy the following criteria:
· Finance – you will either be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or be able to demonstrate significant financial capability, on both an operational and strategic level
· Excellent Project management and stakeholder engagement
· Extensive operational responsibility – oversight of multi-disciplinary teams
· Collaborative and inspiring leadership
· Strategic planning and business acumen
· Whilst previous school experience is not essential, candidates will need to demonstrate a genuine motivation and interest regarding education and the independent sector.
