The full-time starting salary is normally £24,208.00 per annum, with progression available in post to £26,312.00 per annum.

Objectives:
To work within the University’s operational security team, ensuring that you provide professional, efficient, approachable safety guidance and security at all times. Always delivering exacting standards of customer service to our students, staff, and visitors.
The main responsibilities are as follows:
* Strive to ensure the safety and security of all University users and always protecting its assets and interests.
* Provide friendly, efficient, and effective front-line assistance to students, staff, and visitors, upholding exacting standards of customer service and being an ambassador for the University.
* Undertake various security duties as directed, including acting within pressurised emergency situations.
* Be an effective member of the operational security and reception teams on a day-to-day basis.
* Operate and monitor CCTV and other security-related systems including alarm systems from our control rooms.
* Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained in line with the Data Protection Act/GDPR.
* Proactively deal with and report any issues of concern which may be Health and Safety related.
* Maintain elevated level of competency and legislative compliance via regular and ongoing mandatory training.
Essential Requirements:
* Experience in a role or environment with transferable skills, or previous security roles.
* Educated to GCSE Level 'C' or equivalent, particularly in English Language.
* Hold a Security Industry (SIA) ‘Security Guarding’ and/or ‘Door Supervision’ licence or be able to obtain one within three months of commencing the role.
* Demonstrate skills outlined within the 'Person Specification' section of the aligned Job Description.
* Comply with the requirements outlined within the 'Special Requirements' and 'Expectations of all Staff' sections of the aligned Job Description.
* Be able to work alternating shift patterns.
The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University.
