TWI are seeking to appoint an experienced Non-Destructive Testing Specialist Engineer to support the NDT Research & Technology (NRT) Section of the NDT Group. This role is hybrid, with a minimum of two days per week at our Port Talbot office.
This work will include in-house and customer project support, authoring and review of NDT and project documentation, support to research programmes and inspection technique development, development of procedures and standards, business development, mentoring and delivery of state-of-the-art advanced NDT projects.
The NDT Engineer will have previous practical NDT experience, a minimum of CSWIP/PCN Level 2 qualification in at least one major NDT method, an appropriate qualification at degree level or significant demonstrable experience in the application of NDT in industry, extensive knowledge in NDT and will have gained or be working towards chartered engineer status.
The NRT section delivers a broad range of projects to an international customer base often with competing demands and the requirement to co-ordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced, continually changing environment. As a NDT Engineer in our team, you will propose, manage and deliver projects for our customers, as well as supporting day-to-day customer enquiries. To be successful you will need to:
* Develop expertise and innovations aligned to Industrial Member needs in order to differentiate TWI from competitors, often being asked to solve NDT enquiries related to inspection of challenging materials, complex geometries or within hazardous environments;
* Commit to providing technical excellence with effective communication and interpersonal skills;
* Demonstrate a strong track record for effective Project Management, scoping of work and authoring of technical reports to a high standard;
* Work with peers on your own initiative and act as a mentor to develop less experienced TWI technologists;
* Maintain projects to a high level of safety, quality and technical excellence while ensuring time, cost and delivery targets are met;
* Proactively develop a pipeline of new business, engaging with potential customers, colleagues in other business units and the business development function;
* Remain flexible to the needs of the business, supporting the team to deliver project work in times of high demand whether this is a desk-based, laboratory or on-site requirement;
* Be aware and understand your role in health and safety.
