The Stroke Unit is expanding its services and is looking to recruit talented, motivated, and innovative individuals to assist the Ward Sister in delivering high-quality care in this dedicated, patient-focused, fast-paced unit. We are increasing our band 6 team and are looking for nurses to lead and support junior members of the team while ensuring a safe environment is maintained. We offer level 1 care in 16 hyper-acute (HASU) beds before transferring care to our co-located 34 acute beds. Patients of all ages are admitted from across the region and are treated with up-to-date evidence-based care, with opportunities to contribute by participating in our nationally recognized research trials. The HASU cares for patients requiring closer monitoring and higher nursing needs. There is much to learn on this Level One unit; no day is ever the same, and there are always learning opportunities. The role includes coordinating the shift and ensuring that the flow of patients through the unit from admission to discharge is completed in a timely and safe manner. Communication with the MDT is vital, including discussions with the MDT. You need to demonstrate clear leadership qualities and show evidence of involvement and leading in the implementation of new ways of working. The successful candidate will be encouraged to continually develop themselves and other team members to progress patient outcomes and experiences.
