Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for full time (1wte) Band 6 Dietitian working in Oncology across United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
This is a great opportunity to advance your dietetic career and gain experience in the specialist area of oncology, working with patients with a variety of oncological diagnoses in both in and outpatients. You will require the skills to manage your own caseload independently and demonstrate excellent team working skills. Prior experience of working with cancer patients is preferable, but we are able to provide training for those applicants with minimal oncology experience.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills and an interest and some experience in the care of patients in this patient group within the NHS. They should have a practical, forward-thinking approach to service development and evaluation and the ability to work singlehanded as well as part of a team. You will contribute to innovation, service development and audit. You will be supported with your personal development goals and have regular clinical supervision and peer support.
NHS experience and being a member of special interest groups in the BDA is preferable. You must be able to travel between hospital sites.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will provide a service to in-patients at our hospital sites - currently Lincoln County Hospital, Lincoln and Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, and to outpatients cross-Lincolnshire, delivering evidence-based interventions for people with an oncological diagnosis. The successful candidate must be flexible, innovative & highly motivated. The role requires the appointed person to be proactive and adaptable to support fast changing needs of patients, including the smooth and prompt transition of in-patient care to the individuals' place of discharge, and adapting outpatients requirements according to clinical need. The successful applicant will be well supported within the Therapy service and will be encouraged to assist in developing the service. Job responsibilities
The post holder will provide evidence-based interventions to patients with a variety of oncological diagnoses and their family/carers, in both an inpatient and outpatient setting, including providing cover for other specialist caseloads to cover periods of annual leave and sickness. This will include initial nutritional assessments and ongoing support using a variety of nutritional interventions including enteral feeding.

Essential
* BSc Dietetics or Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics
* HCPC registration
Desirable
* Facilitation of Learning training
* FODMAP Training
* Membership of the BDA
* Membership of relevant specialist interest groups or professional bodies
Experience

* Experience of nutritional support across a range of clinical areas.
* Proven ability to work independently with a high degree of autonomy
* Knowledge of the boundaries of own practice and able to appropriately access relevant sources of support
* Experience of contributing to Clinical Governance
Desirable
* At least 12 months' experience working as a dietitian post-registration
* Experience of delivering group education sessions
* Experience of disordered eating
* Experience managing complex nutritional support patients
* Experience of enteral feeding via different routes/tubes

* Up to date knowledge of the evidence base surrounding nutrition support and gold standard care relating to relevant health conditions
