Job Description Purpose of the role To develop, implement and maintain solutions that support the safeguarding of the banks systems and sensitive information. Accountabilities Provision of subject matter expertise on security systems and engineering patterns. Development and implementation of protocols, algorithms, and software applications to protect sensitive data and systems. Management and protection of secrets, ensuring that they are securely generated, stored, and used. Execution of audits to monitor, identify and assess vulnerabilities in the banks infrastructure/software and support the response to potential security breaches. Identification of advancements in to support the innovation and adoption of new cryptographic technologies and techniques. Collaboration across the bank, including developers and security teams, to ensure that cryptographic solutions align with business objectives, security policies and regulatory requirements. Join us at Barclays as a Web Application Firewall Security Engineer within the Network Defense team of CISO Security Engineering & Technology Services. The purpose of this role is to develop, implement and maintain CDN based security solutions that support the safeguarding of the banks systems and sensitive information. As a Web Application Firewall Security Engineer, you will: Analyse Web App and API security requirements, onboard new services to CDN platforms, meeting service demand for configuration/policy changes, troubleshooting, tuning and audit. Collaborate to deliver large programs of work, owning and taking the technical lead ensuring items are completed as expected. Analyse traffic, tuning rules and detection features to avoid false positives and ensure services are protected against DDoS and Web app attacks. To be successful in this role, you should have: Experience with hands-on design, onboarding and implementation of network and security configurations on Web Application Firewall and CDN with a focus on Bot detection and response. Deep working knowledge of layer 3 and 7 DDoS protection technologies. Understanding of Web Application fundamentals like JavaScript/CSS/JSON/XML. Additional skills include: Strong knowledge of security network architecture (e.g. Firewalls, Load Balancers such as F5s, DMZ, proxies, DNS, web and mail servers). Exposure to cloud technologies, AWS, Azure and SaaS based security solutions. Experience integrating with Akamai APIs to facilitate information gathering and automation.
