What we're looking for
A fully refurbished hospital based in a fantastic location, just 4 miles south of the city centre with excellent access to transport networks has a role for a Consultant Psychiatrist and Responsible Clinican to take on a key role in the development of a service specialising in the support of females with acute mental health care needs.
What is the Hospital like and why is it so special?
Over four wards with an attached step down unit, this hospital aims to provide a person centred approach and has heavily invested in state of the art technology to spearhead a new approach to psychotherapies, also including coffee shops, a gym and virtual consultation rooms.
The clinical team encourage full involvement of the service user, their family and external professionals throughout their stay. They are invited to attend Ward Reviews and CPA meetings to ensure clear communication throughout the care pathway in order to promote individuals' recovery and facilitate discharge.
What does the role look like?
You will care for patients referred to the unit from local NHS trusts and those further afield. During working hours, you will be responsible for clerking in new patients and reviewing their mental/physical state throughout the working week. You will be also take responsibility for attending and contributing to tribunals and working with the wider MDT to ensure treatment plans are formulated, executed and frequently reviewed.
General working hours are Monday to Friday 9:00 – 17:00, with potential flexibility offered. Initially there will be on call responsibilities as part of the existing package, but with negotiation where necessarily.
The essentials required:
• Full GMC registration
• Relevant experience within psychiatric hospitals
• Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (preferred)
• Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (2007) and Code of Practice along with Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
• The ability to interview, assess and treat patients and write clear comprehensive medical notes
• Desirable: Membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists, Physicians, General Practitioners or equivalent
