To work in partnership with Customer Site Management, supported by ESS Head Office Management, to achieve targets. Focus on maintaining plant reliability and efficiency, be pro-active in seeking ways to improve plant performance, and manage the activities within the allocated budget. Motivate and lead the maintenance team to achieve their targets; Ensure that all employees are aware that the priority is to keep the plant running efficiently. Manage all Health & Safety matters in the maintenance team, including but not limited to: Ensure that all ESS Ltd. employees work in a safe and responsible manner and adhere to on-site safety regulations and procedures. Issuing ‘Permits-to-Work’. Conducting Risk Assessments on own and team’s work. Inducting the team in routine health and safety training such as: Lock Out/Tag Out, Permits system, PPE compliance, Accident Reporting. Carrying out PPE audits of the team. Planning of maintenance resources (i.e. shift schedule); monitor the time and attendance of all ESS employees on the site. Program & issue work orders for planned preventative maintenance/other work to the engineering team. Ensure all work is accurately and consistently recorded in Work Orders; Allocation and completion of PM’S is a fundamental requirement; Managing the back log of follow-up/planned work/work requests to ensure timely completion. Planning & Scheduling of Maintenance activities in close co-operation with site Operations. Management of contractors on site involved in maintenance-related activities. Ensure service contracts are up to date and liaise with external vendors. Procurement and stocking of spare parts. Ensure availability of materials as required. Provide weekly and monthly KPI reports on maintenance activities. Housekeeping in maintenance work areas, which includes workshop(s), stores, and site areas where engineering/contractor activities are in progress. Deal with employee relations and performance issues relating to ESS Ltd. Personnel; Participation in the recruitment process for new personnel. Supervision and mentoring of employees on apprenticeship programs. On call as part of Site Management Team / Engineering Team, including site attendance response (rota shared among site functional managers). Participate in site audits ensuring compliance. Management of minor capital expenditure projects within the site (i.e. maintenance replacement/upgrades. Note that capex approvals and major projects are the responsibility of the Plant Manager/Site Capex Management. Any extra work including special projects must be delegated to others and must not interfere with the day to day plant cover of the core team. Challenge systems, processes and procedures to drive change within the Maintenance/Operations function. Participate in Site Management initiatives, for example, but not limited to, TPM. Person Specification: Trades qualification – preferably electrical and relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment Experience with modern maintenance management methods and techniques. Experienced in managing a maintenance team of not less than 5 personnel, with responsibility for Health & Safety, plus motivating, influencing, coaching the team on day to day technical and operations matters. Proven ability to deal with employee relations / disciplinary matters within the team. High speed/High Volume background. Ideally experience in Food/Beverage manufacturing processes. Multi-skilled / cross-skilled ethos. Aptitude for process awareness, PLC control equipment and diagnostic / trouble-shooting experience gained in a Hi-volume environment. Good team player that can use their initiative and communicate well with people and build work relationships. Responsible and positive person who embraces change and takes ownership for their team and plant. Familiar with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems, ideally Maximo.
