We are seeking talented and motivated pharmacist to join the Heartlands site within our Diabetes team to help deliver a clinically focused and innovative pharmacy service. The role will also support the Diabetes Optimisation clinics. This shall focus predominantly on diabetes, blood pressure and lipid management. Main duties, tasks & skills required
We are looking for an enthusiastic clinical pharmacist who has the skill set to work within a specialist clinical area. You need to be motivated with good communication skills and a desire to use your knowledge and experience to improve patient care and influence healthcare professionals in the best use of medicines.
You will support the management of patients with diabetes and attend regular monthly MDTs to discuss complex patients. Through a structured development program, a set of criteria shall be used to ensure you are supported to achieve key skills and knowledge to undertake the responsibilities of this specialist role.
You will have a patient facing role supporting the dedicated diabetes inpatient ward as well the outpatient clinics. You will provide regular directorate reports to the diabetes team highlighting cost improvement plans and deliver Quality Improvement Projects. The postholder shall represent pharmacy at the Trust wide Diabetes Steering Group, with a focus on patient safety and incident reports.
As part of the senior pharmacist team on the Birmingham Heartlands Hospital site, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your leadership skills with responsibility to lead the clinical team shared with other Specialist Pharmacists. You shall also have responsibility for line management and mentorship to develop our foundation trainees and rotational clinical pharmacists.

Qualifications
Essential
* 4-year vocational master's degree in pharmacy (or equivalent)
* Post-graduate clinical pharmacy qualification or equivalent experience
* Working towards Level I Faculty Membership with the RPS
* Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council
Desirable
* Has completed a non-medical prescribing course and registered as an NMP with the GPhC
* Working towards Level I Faculty Membership with the RPS
Experience
Essential
* Significant post-registration hospital pharmacy experience in a variety of clinical specialities including patients with diabetes
* Previous participation in multi-disciplinary team
* Demonstrates commitment and enthusiasm for providing high quality pharmaceutical care
* Experience of teaching/presenting to other healthcare professionals/patients
* Commitment to own Continuing Professional Development
