Refuse & Recycling HGV Driver/Loader About us HGV Drivers (Class C Licence) – Refuse & Recycling Driver/Loader Are you looking for a new role or a new challenge or just a change from a normal driving job? In recent years, East Staffordshire has experienced significant housing growth and the waste management team currently collects refuse and recycling from over 55,000 properties each week. In order to support this growth, the team is increasing in size and currently has vacancies for two new Refuse & Recycling Driver/Loaders. These will complement our existing team and help maintain our high service standards. The role The role involves the driving of allocated waste collection vehicles, including 26-tonne refuse vehicles. You will drive and be responsible for your allocated vehicle, including its security, and you will control and supervise the staff that are with you. Prior to leaving the depot, you will be responsible for checking that the vehicle is roadworthy by undertaking a Daily Vehicle Maintenance Check and for reporting any defects to the Supervisor in accordance with Council procedure. The use of an in-cab device to check workflow demands is also required Key requirements You should hold a HGV Class C Licence and have previous HGV driving experience with a sound understanding of the health and safety implications of driving large vehicles. You will also have excellent customer care and communication skills and ideally previous experience of working with in the waste industry but, if not, full training will be provided.
