What you’ll do Lead and inspire a multi-disciplinary team supporting young people in the youth justice system Oversee complex cases, ensuring the highest standards of risk management Work closely with partner agencies to prevent youth offending and re-offending Use trauma-informed approaches to guide your team in delivering restorative justice What you’ll bring A social work qualification, probation officer qualification or a good quality relevant degree i.e. BA in youth justice or criminology A Professional Certificate in Effective Practice (PCEP) or Youth Justice Effective Practice Certificate (YJEPC) or be prepared to complete the qualification within the first 12 months of employment Have significant experience of working with children and young people who have offended Experienced in complex risk management An individual with the ability to manage multi-agency services for children and families Knowledge of best practice for children who offend and trauma informed approaches A passion for making a difference and a commitment to continuous improvement Why join us? Walsall Youth Justice Service is a multi-agency partnership service established under S.37 of the Crime and Disorder Act with the principle aims of reducing offending and re-offending of young people. What do we do? We work with children on the periphery of the youth justice system to prevent them from becoming first time entrants The team support children involved with the Police receiving out of court disposals and children convicted in Court. We work with children in the secure estate on remand and sentenced to custody and we are responsible for the resettlement of young people back into the community. The YJS also oversee services to victims of youth crime, including restorative justice interventions. This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
