If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join the Food Standards Agency (FSA) as one of our Senior Intelligence Officers, and we�d love to hear from you!�
The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1400 people. We play a critical role in protecting public health and consumers� wider interests in food across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our vision is an important one - to drive change, delivering �food you can trust� and working towards a healthier and more sustainable food system.�
You will work across the Strategic, Regulatory Compliance Directorate (SRCD) to develop the required capacity and capability, both within the FSA itself and our delivery partners, to use intelligence to deliver and maintain food standards in England, Northern Ireland and Wales.�
You will play a key role in gathering and assessing intelligence to help delivery partners implement the new food standards model from 2024. Starting in England and Northern Ireland (with a pilot presently undergoing evaluation in Wales), you will research and use intelligence from a range of sources to ensure that food is safe and what it says it is across the nations.��
Your work will be central to ensuring the role of intelligence and intelligence led activities are fully integrated within the new approach to the delivery of food standards official controls and that the value of intelligence is understood.�
Job description
Within your role you will:�
1. Contribute to the integration of using intelligence internally within the FSA and with external delivery partners in the new approach to the delivery of food standards official controls.�
2. Support the internal FSA Intelligence Considerations Meeting by providing the required secretarial support and also through attendance, referral and discussion and taking responsibility for actions as may arise.�
3. Develop and deliver required training on the food standards delivery model including the intelligence components thereof.�
4. Build and/or maintain existing relationships with colleagues and delivery partners to ensure that intelligence flows are effective.�
5. Provide support to develop and use intelligence to problem solve chronic food standards issues.�
6. Assess intelligence systems and sources to build a nationwide understanding of food standards issues�
7. Produce written reports as necessary to line managers and Business Delivery group and Executive Management Team on relevant issues as and when required.�
8. This list is not exhaustive.� The FSA continues to develop its approach to intelligence led/directed working.� There will be a need to reasonably and necessarily flex and change for business needs.�
