An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Bury College as a Health, Safety & Sustainability Assistant. We are looking for individuals who want to be part of the Estates and Health & Safety team who can assist in providing a high quality, essential and responsive service across the College. You will help ensure the College complies with all aspects of EHS law, that management and controls of identified risks are suitable and sufficient, and assist the Health, Safety & Sustainability Manager with monitoring activities across college. We are looking for candidates who: Have a proactive approach to work and a can-do attitude Have good problem-solving skills Possess good H&S knowledge Has great communication and interpersonal skills Has a flexible approach to working Have an understanding of carbon reporting and environmental awareness Must be able to promote a safe, secure and pleasant environment by undertaking and adhering to risk assessments, safe systems of work and College policy and procedure Can assist in ensuring that the campus is safe and accessible to all learners and staff Can act as a point of contact for staff, students, external contractors and visitors Are willing and able to respond to first aid emergencies Can assist in driving positive safety and sustainability culture across college As an ideal candidate, you will also possess a working knowledge of all Health and Safety regulations and have an enthusiastic and proactive approach to your work. The ability to maintain accurate records, profiling and complete documentation to high standards is essential. An IOSH Managing Safely Qualification is essential and/or NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety is desirable.
