Cambridge Council - Public Health Consultant
On behalf of the local authority, the post-holder working with the Director of Public Health (DPH) and other consultant colleagues will lead on improving the health and wellbeing of the residents which is underpinned by the statutory duty placed on local government to take such steps as it considers appropriate to improve health of its residents.
This is a senior role in the local health and wellbeing community across CCC working as part of a Public Health team and system committed to improving health and wellbeing in Cambridgeshire. The postholder will act as a change agent to enable delivery of relevant outcome indicators from the public health, NHS, and social care outcome frameworks. There is an expectation that the role will work across organisations, be able to influence budgets held by those organisations as well as advocate for change effectively, to improve population and planetary health. The postholder may hold direct managerial responsibility for services and budgets which directly contribute to these objectives and will also have substantial strategic responsibilities across the council and other agencies.
The specific purpose of the position is to deliver strategic leadership for improving the health and wellbeing outcomes for older people, people with learning disabilities along with improving public mental health and preventing mental ill health. It will require working at a population level across prevention and care services and involve commissioning and working with partner organisations to improve outcomes.
The post holder will also lead specialist public health input to the work of the Adult Social Care Directorate and associated commissioning, including research evidence, innovative models, and evaluation.
