Do you have a recognised BSc Honours degree in physiotherapy or equivalent, a broad NHS post graduate experience in a rotational post in an acute setting and a keen desire to develop specialist acute paediatric skills?
This full time rotational post is an excellent opportunity to develop your physiotherapy skills working with children and young people in both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will work across related specialities of orthopaedics, MSK, metabolic bone disease (MBD), rheumatology, chronic pain, burns, haematology, neonatal conditions and hydrotherapy.
You will work within a specialist multi-professional, integrated AHP team with the support from senior clinicians to develop your expertise in these areas.
You should have sound clinical skills and be a good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills. You should have experience of training and supervising junior members of staff and students.
You will be required to support the respiratory on call and weekend/bank holiday service and experience of respiratory on call is essential. There is also the opportunity to work on the major trauma & orthopaedic service at weekends/bank holidays.
RMCH is one of the biggest major trauma centres in the country and currently treats children who have the most serious injuries such as road traffic accidents and falls. Inpatient tertiary elective orthopaedic surgery is varied and includes multi-level surgery, spinal surgery and limb reconstruction surgery. Working in one of the largest specialist paediatric burns unit in the country you will provide inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation for children and young people with serious thermal injuries. As part of our specialist MBD team you will deliver intensive physiotherapy for complex patients with osteogenisis imperfecta focusing on assessment, treatment and advice on mobility and physical function and contribute to specialist outpatient clinics. With support from an experienced rheumatology team you will provide physiotherapy inpatient and outpatient services for children and young people referred with conditions such as juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematous, hypermobility, biomechanical joint pain and chronic pain.
There is a strong emphasis on professional development with excellent in-service training and support for external courses. An established appraisal programme is in place.
