Job Role
- Support the Class Tutor and Co-Tutor in preparing resources to meet the personalised learning objectives of allocated students.
- Provide one-to-one support under the Tutor's guidance for skills-based learning.
- Utilise a range of communication strategies, including Makaton, to engage with students with complex needs.
- Collaborate with Curriculum and Pastoral Leads to address the social and emotional needs of young people.
Responsibilities
- Enable students to achieve their learning goals and targets by supporting the development and practice of new skills, fostering their independence wherever possible. Provide all necessary support to ensure students' well-being, enabling them to engage effectively in learning. Deliver holistic care and attention to students, adhering to multidisciplinary team guidelines while respecting individual preferences and needs.
- Assist in creating a safe, stimulating environment and planning activities that challenge and enhance students' skills. Fully implement safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and welfare of all students. Actively support students' learning across all aspects of college life, documenting progress through the EFL software.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and legible records in line with registration and legal requirements. Support functional communication approaches, including Makaton, object cues, and devices such as single switches, VOCAs, or Communicate in Print.
- Engage in the college's quality assurance processes, reflecting on personal practice, team dynamics, and overall institutional performance. Participate fully in staff training programmes, mandatory sessions, meetings, supervision, and annual performance reviews.
- Perform additional duties commensurate with the role of Learning/Enabling Support Worker as directed by a Senior Manager.

Take responsibility for personal development by undertaking relevant training, attending meetings, conferences, and events, and staying informed on matters pertinent to the role.
