As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you will mentor and develop a team of infrastructure engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance. You will prioritise workload and assign tasks across the team to align with the firm's strategy, ensuring team efficiency and productivity. Additionally, you will motivate and encourage staff, set meaningful objectives, and implement appropriate training and development plans. Conducting regular performance reviews, providing feedback, and identifying training needs for team members will also be part of your role.
Responsibilities
* Manage ongoing contracts and licenses, handle renewals, and optimise savings, including co-terming contracts for greater renewal efficiencies.
* Maintain regular vendor management relationships and understand the cost and benefits of each contract.
* Oversee datacentre hardware management, goods in/out, access requests, and intelligent hands.
* Manage the lifecycle of operating systems and infrastructure-controlled applications, including continuous review and delivery of vendor security updates, bug fixes/patches, and communication of end-of-life (EOL) dates to our customers.
* Identify areas of obsolescence within your domain and plan remediation.
* Identify opportunities to fix common issues at the source.
* Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and be seen as a partner to our customers.
* Promote a DevOps mindset of agile working and collaboration with other teams.
* Continuously review existing operational processes and procedures to identify efficiencies and drive new ways of working.
* Modernise infrastructure delivered services, ensuring they are either delivered via SaaS or cloud instead of legacy methodologies.
* Provide correct support and guidance to the Service Delivery Team with effective solutions, support, and documentation.
* Manage trend/capacity to ensure system resource requirements are sufficient.
* Contribute to the infrastructure budget submission process.
* Move away from manual work and drive automation and common standards.
* Collaborate with and support other Technology Division Team members.
* Serve as a management escalation contact for out-of-hours support rota.
Essential Skills
* Experience in infrastructure engineering.
* Proficiency in VMware, PowerShell, SQL, and Active Directory.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Ability to manage contracts and vendor relationships.
