Welder Hourly Rate: £14.64 Location: Birtley Job Type: Temporary, ongoing We are seeking a skilled Welder for an established engineering company based in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear. This role offers a temporary ongoing opportunity where you will report to the Production Supervisor and be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a range of heavy steel products. Day-to-day of the role: Follow daily work processes through job cards. Measure and cut out templates to fabricate the correct size of replacement steel plate. Operate a power grinder and use an oxy burner to cut out thick plate steel. Perform fabrication and welding of heavy plate steel. Utilise a roller to form steel. Conduct quality inspections of work carried out. Use overhead cranes and cherry pickers as needed. Required Skills & Qualifications: Relevant experience as a Fabricator with the ability to weld your own work within a heavy plant environment. Proficiency in burning, chamfering, gouging, arc air gauging, and plasma cutting. Experienced in using power tools, pneumatic tools, and general hand tools. Strong understanding of various welding procedures and health and safety protocols. Ability to read engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances. Strong attention to detail. Experience with oxy/acetylene cutting equipment and down hand multi-run fillets. Fabrication/Welding of earth moving attachments using 1.2mm bare wire MIG welding processes. Multi-run welding required, working on plate thicknesses from 6mm to 200mm. Site safety passport, CSCS card, and any on-site welding experience would be advantageous.
