Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency, has a new permanent position available for an Independent Reviewing Officer within the Children & Family Community Services to work full time based in Guernsey.
The salary for this permanent Independent Reviewing Officer job is up to £63,481 per annum.
Main duties:
1. Convene and chair Looked After Children reviews to both review and monitor a child’s case on an ongoing basis, on behalf of the Committee for Health and Social Care.
2. Provide cover for the Child Protection Conference Chairperson by chairing specific Child Protection Conferences, as required by the demands of the service.
3. Monitor the performance of the Committee for Health and Social Care’s function as a ‘corporate parent’ and identify and challenge areas of poor practice, recognising and promoting best practice.
4. Monitor, facilitate and promote strong inter-agency working, communication and multi-agency care and safety planning.
5. Manage administrative, recording and information processes as directed by HSC Children & Family Community Services policies and procedures.
6. Carry out a range of quality assurance activities, to include case auditing, and to quality assure case files which have been prepared for sharing as part of a Subject Access Request.
7. Investigate cases which are cause for concern, to include the chairing of disruption meetings, and to provide written reports on areas for concern, and guidance for future learning.
8. Provide a specialist consultancy and advice service to staff of the Committee for Health and Social Care and other agencies.
9. Act as an Independent Visitor, (otherwise known as a Regulation 44 Inspector), by visiting, inspecting, and reporting on Guernsey Children’s residential small group homes to assess the safeguarding arrangements and quality of care provided.
10. Contribute and drive the development of policy and best practice to service planning and development.
11. Contribute to, facilitate, and deliver specialist organisational and inter-agency training programmes and tools as required by the Service Manager for the Safeguarding & Quality Assurance Unit.
12. To assure the quality of professional practice within the Committee with particular reference to local guidance and procedures.
13. To manage administrative and management information processes as required, in conjunction with support staff, quality assurance staff and social workers.
14. To provide a consultancy and advice service to Children & Family Community Services staff and other statutory and voluntary agencies.
Requirements of this Independent Reviewing Officer job:
1. A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
2. Understanding of relevant legislation.
3. Continual professional development.
4. Social Work England registered.
5. Experience within Adult Social Work.
