Purchasing Assistant
6 month fixed term contract

Jackson Hogg Procurement division are exclusively supporting an established manufacturing organisation in Northumberland on the appointment of a Purchasing Assistant to join their team on a full time, fixed term contract basis for 6 months.
This role will be based on site and working hours are Monday to Thursday 07:30-16:00 and Fridays 07:30-12:30 with flexibility to an 08:00 start if preferred.
There is also the option to work a 9-day fortnight to have every other Friday off.
You will need to be immediately available for this role and able to commit to an end of January/early February 2025 start date.
The Role:
* Purchase Requisition Processing.
* Raise purchase orders, issue to suppliers and confirm delivery dates.
* Responsible for booking in non-stock items as and when required.
* Responsible for expediting purchase orders, updating the ERP system and communicating any late deliveries to internal stakeholders.
* Review and negotiate supplier pricing and payment terms in relation to purchase requisitions.
* Review supplier quotations ensuring they meet delivery requirements, target pricing and delivery quantity.
* Monitor stock levels in order to replenish stock as and when needed.
* Address issues relating to shortages, delivery delays and damaged goods.
* Source alternative items/suppliers in relation to all purchase requisitions.
* Coordinate supplier returns and exchanges.
* Work with, and support suppliers to achieve on time, in full delivery of products.
* Work closely with stakeholders to keep them informed of open purchase order queries and resolution.
* Responsible for issuing supplier approval questionnaires, ensuring all information received meets approval criteria.
* Housekeeping of ERP database. Ensuring supplier pricing, lead times, contact information is accurate.
* Invoice query management.
* Other admin duties as and when requested.
The Person/Requirements:
* 2-3 years of experience in a similar position.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Strong administration skills.
* Strong communication skills.
* MRP experience preferred but not essential.
* Good understanding of Purchase Order process.
* Good understanding of MS Office applications.
