The purpose of this role is to maintain the safety, reliability, and maintenance of On-Track Plant (OTP). By implementing effective strategies, fostering a culture of safety and excellence, establishing engineering standards, conducting inspections, and implementing processes to monitor and improve performance. Main Responsibilities Ensuring all work is captured accordingly, to inspect maintain and repair a wide variety of assets. Regularly report on asset availability and communicate delays or concerns. Ensure compliance with Rail Industry Standard (RIS) 1530 and Infrastructure Plant Manual (IPM). Conduct investigations and reviews to keep updated with key changes to legislation ensuring the rail department remains compliant. Facilitate clients and NWR in technical audits. Monitoring high-risk defects on NIR-Online and respond to issues accordingly. Produce plant technical bulletins. Ensure all fitters have the required rail plant association assessments. Skills/Knowledge Strong maintenance background with an excellent understanding of OTP and attachments, ranging from rail excavators, Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs), Highway Permissible Vehicles (HPVs), ballast brushes, rail panel lifting grabs and associated rail lifting equipment. OEM understanding of Liebherr, Komatsu and Geismar Machines (preferred). A good understanding of non-operated plant (preferred). Key Areas: Experience in the rail industry Knowledge of On Track Plant procedures Proven experience in a similar role within OTP, or civil plant, rail, utilities or a similar regulatory-driven environment Incident Investigation and Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) report compiling. Previous management position in OTP or plant and construction industry Managing engineering supply chain relationships. Knowledge of mechanical fault findings, electrical fault findings, hydraulics, fault diagnosis, pneumatics, general servicing and defect repair, A strong level of IT competency including Microsoft Office and Excel is essential Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work with people at all levels in the business. Qualifications Required NVQ Level 3 Plant Engineer or Equivalent Engineering Trade Qualification. PTS Holder (Sentinel). Full Clean UK Driving Licence. Rail Plant Association Assessed (in date). Valid Sentinel PTS card endorsed with AC and DC lines (DCCR). Preferred 5 years of Rail Experience on OTP. NVQ Level 4 in Plant Engineer or Equivalent (Engineering Diploma or Equivalent) (or be willing to working towards). Previously fulfilled a role in OTP Engineering Management. Registered with an Engineering awarding body (i.e. IplantE) (or be willing to working towards). Statutory Examination of Lifting Equipment Certification (SE001 etc). Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or be willing to working towards).
