* Ensure patient safety is maintained.
* To undertake assessment, planning and evaluation of patients
* To promote a culture of demonstrable best practice and integrated evidence based practice.
* To provide clinical advice, support and education to professions/ staff and patients.
* Work collaboratively and co-operatively with clinical colleagues within the ward.
* To have an understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty and be able to apply to this in clinical practice.
* To have an understanding of safeguarding, being able to appropriately identify those patients at risk, managing referrals and assist with investigations in line with Trust Policy and Procedure.
* To provide support and care for the patient and his/her family respecting their need for privacy and dignity.
* Be professionally responsible for adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
* Produce written communications which are clear, fluent, concise and easily understood.
* Carry out nursing procedures and treatments in accordance with approved procedures.
* Ensure the delivery of evidence-based nursing care in accordance withNMC Code of Professional Conductwithin the clinical care area as an autonomous practitioner.
* To continue own professional development in line with NMC guidelines and NMC revalidation.
* Maintain clinical competence of self and others as determined by service need and job descriptions. Tasks to include male catheterisation, ECG, IV administration, Cannulation.
