Data Architect
12-month Fixed Term Contact (FTC)
Location: Edinburgh, Peterborough or Witham
Hybrid: We believe in the power of in-person collaboration, and our hybrid model requires colleagues to be in the office a minimum of 40% of their time.
Salary: A competitive salary from £32,400-£48,600 depending on the experience you can bring.

As a Data Architect at Aegon, you'll transform and utilise data from core systems, build technical solutions, and create automated reporting suites. You'll work closely with Senior Operational Data Architects to translate business requirements into technical specifications, write complex queries, and develop high-spec solutions like self-serve data tools. Ensuring data accuracy and efficiency, you'll support the smooth operation of our reporting suite and data infrastructure, collaborate with IT and project teams, and provide expert recommendations for system upgrades.
Your key outcomes:
* Support Senior Data Architect: Translate business needs into technical requirements.
* Database Analysis: Understand and transform complex database structures for operational intelligence.
* Query Writing: Write complex queries to extract and prepare business information.
* Data Analysis: Work with large data sets using SQL, Python, and SAS.
* Report Creation: Develop and maintain high-quality business reports.
* Automation: Improve report reliability and efficiency through automation.
* Data Infrastructure: Maintain data infrastructure for accuracy and reliability.
* Collaboration: Work with IT and project teams to ensure data components support operational intelligence.
* AWS Utilization: Use AWS for Customer Contact Centre reporting.
* Supplier Coordination: Ensure interoperability with third-party suppliers.
We’d love to hear from you if you:
* 2+ years in a Data or Analysis function.
* Excellent database skills, particularly proficient in writing complex SQL queries.
* Experience with Python and BI tools such as Tableau (preferred), Power BI or equivalent.
* Expert use in Microsoft Excel & VBA.
* Have experience with large data sets, telephony reporting and technical language skills.
* Experience in multi-site environments and continuous improvement.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
