This role within Army’s Civilian People Team (ACPT) is to support the effective and timely engagement between Army TLB and the Trades Unions (TUs) with the aim of maintaining effective Employee Relations (ER) – ER is the name given to describe the relationship between civilian employees, the employer, and Trades Unions. You will ensure business can be transacted as smoothly and successfully as possible, providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) advice/guidance to colleagues within the ACPT and range of stakeholders including the HR community and business leads/change managers, promoting good and effective ER and TU engagement. You will manage the flow of information between Army TLB and Army’s TU leads and coordinate the TLB’s strategic level TU engagement framework of monthly meetings. You will provide ER strategic context for the TUs and business areas in respect of the TLB change programmes and wider cross cutting TLB/Department initiatives, as appropriate. You will provide SME advice/guidance to Army TLB’s HR community and business change leads on TU engagement and consultation processes. You will support wider TU engagement awareness initiatives and provide SME support to the ACPT’s awareness and upskilling activity where TU engagement features, leading discrete awareness activities as required. Alongside this work, you will be involved in other areas of HR work related to business change and the management of staff displaced by these activities, in support of Army’s People Panel. It is anticipated the split of responsibilities will be 80% ERA duties and 20% other HR work, this may periodically fluctuate. If the successful applicant is also an elected TU representative, they would need to step back from their TU role for the duration to the appointment.
