The School of Business and Management QMUL invites applications for ESRC 1+3 (MRes + PhD) and +3 (PhD) Studentships commencing October 2025, through the London Interdisciplinary Social Science (LISS) Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP).
The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) LISS Doctoral Training Partnership is led by King’s College London with partners Imperial College London and Queen Mary University of London.
The LISS DTP competition for October 2025 entry is now open, with 58 studentships available. LISS DTP invites applications for four-year (1+3) studentships for candidates for a Masters’ degree leading to a PhD, and for three-year (+3) doctoral studentships (PhD only) at one of the LISS DTP institutions: King’s College London, Queen Mary University of London, or Imperial College London. Part-time studentships are also available.
Queen Mary University of London is a partner institution in one of the largest Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Doctoral Training Partnerships in the country. We welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates in the following subject areas:

The Studentship
The studentship will cover UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Home fees for a Masters’ and/or PhD programme, and an annual stipend valued at approximately £21,237 full-time (£10,613 part-time, 2024/25 rates). The ESRC will only fund the UKRI Home fee, but LISS DTP institutions will fund the fee difference for a limited number of International students. As part of your award, you will be able to access additional funding to help cover some of the costs of training, fieldwork, travel, and more.
