The Role & Key Responsibilities About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Transport Lead Driver to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of our transport department at Walsingham. This pivotal role requires an experienced driver to oversee the team of drivers, ensuring the highest level of service, legal compliance, and operational efficiency. Working in conjunction with the Transport Manager, you will help deliver a safe, productive, and compliant transport operation, serving our customers 7 days a week via a rotating shift pattern. Key Responsibilities: Support the Transport Manager to ensure compliance with the Operator Licence at Walsingham. Oversee daily vehicle defect management, implementation of transport plans, and delivery schedules. Supervise driver absence, performance reviews, holiday approvals, and return-to-work processes. Ensure legal compliance with driver hours, tachograph analysis, and vehicle defect reporting. Collaborate with Driver Assessors and Regional Driver Trainers to ensure Driver CPCs, annual assessments, and toolbox talks are completed. Promote Target Zero initiatives, conduct post-accident investigations, and ensure the team adheres to all health and safety guidelines. Track driver performance against set KPIs including tachograph compliance, absence, and complaints. Guide, mentor, and develop drivers in line with operational goals. Ensure all records are accurately maintained, including compliance with PMI/LBTs, vehicle washes, and internal trailer cleaning requirements. Essential Knowledge & Qualifications: Understanding of transport compliance, including Operator Licence Awareness (OLAT). Current and valid LGV Licence. Up-to-date Driver CPC accreditation. Knowledge of driver hours law and tachograph/Digi card analysis. Experience with fleet management and regulatory compliance. Good IT skills, including experience with Paragon, Microlise, or similar systems. IOSH Managing Safely certification or willingness to attain. Valuable Experience & Skills Transport Manager CPC Experience working within LGV/HGV fleets Experience with bulk blowing equipment People skills, including conflict resolution and team leadership Additional Factors Ability to work shifts, including 7-day coverage on a rotating pattern.
