It is an exciting time for Pharmacy Technical Services across North Wales. Following recent investment in Pharmacy technical services an exciting opportunity has arisen for dynamic, motivated individuals to join our friendly production team at Wrexham Maelor Hospital and support the development and introduction of an outpatient antibiotic treatment service (OPAT). This service will be a first for Wales and will involve aseptic production of antibiotic infusions utilising modern technology and automated filling devices. We are looking for individuals who will contribute to and work well within our existing team and help to develop and introduce the OPAT service and demonstrate its value in enabling patients to be discharged from hospital sooner and be treated at home. This initiative will have significant benefits for patients and it is envisaged that support for further service development and increasing the range of medicines supplied in this way will be achieved. You must be able to work to a high standard, follow written instructions and procedures, have good organisational and communication skills, an eye for detail, good accuracy skills and ability to use your own initiative whilst working to time schedules and under pressure. Main duties of the job As a Manufacturing Technician, main duties of the role will include; Participation in the aseptic production of antibiotic infusions utilising modern technology and automated filling devices. Good Manufacturing Practice principles and utilising aseptic technique. Working within cleanroom environments, upholding high levels of cleanroom behaviour and comportment at all times. Partaking in maintaining the integrity of the cleanroom environment by working in accordance to strict cleaning regimes, as detailed within departmental SOPs. The role will include aspects of working as an individual, as well a member of our existing Pharmacy Production Unit team. Person specification Qualifications And/or Knowledge Essential criteria Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council, or Registered Scientist / Science Technician with the Science Council. Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills (QCF) or equivalent, or holds a Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician qualification. Knowledge of COSSH regulations. Knowledge of GMP. Desirable criteria Membership of relevant professional Association Undertaken Aseptic preparation & dispensing of medicines course (APDM) Undertaken GMP training Experience Essential criteria Basic knowledge of the therapeutic use of drugs Basic understanding of operation of hospital pharmacy services Working as part of a team.
