Your role The Senior Quality Control Officer will be responsible for monitoring the environment where aseptic manufacturing takes place. They will work together with QA, the Contamination Control Officer, and Validation to ensure that QC oversight is present where required. The department has primary responsibility for Environmental Monitoring as part of the Quality Team at Bath ASU. The Senior would be managing and approving work completed by Quality Control Officers, whose responsibility include QC checks on incoming goods and validation and verification of equipment. The goal of this position is to successfully manage the team to monitor the facility and to investigate and risk assess results that are out of limits or have breached action limits. Your duties & responsibilities Manage the QC operations on the day and late shift. Ensure that the shift is working effectively and reassign people according to workflow. Ensure all tasks and responsibilities are achieved in line with SOPs, in a timely manner and to an appropriate standard. Produce and interpret regular reports against pre-determined KPIs for the QC team, for dissemination to the QC Operations team leader or the wider Quality Team. Support and deliver against objectives set through the PQS system or Bath ASU improvements or projects. Work in the Quality Control Laboratory in a safe and effective manner and in accordance with the recommendations of the Guide to Good Laboratory Practice, local procedures and all relevant safety regulations including Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and report risks and poor practices. Undertake routine environmental monitoring including temperature, pressure, particulate and microbiological contamination. Report (on relevant form) any results which are outside the stated limits and participate in the immediate corrective actions, causes and preventative measures. Undertake routine inspections on a range of products including raw materials, containers/packaging, and finished products according to the appropriate Standard Operating Procedure. Complete a variety of tests on microorganisms in order to confirm their identity. Assist with operator validations. Lead and support timely investigating of complaints, deviations, and quality exceptions from the quality system, and approve initial investigations, assign appropriate corrective actions, and recommend preventative measures. Ensure stocks of materials and consumables are maintained at required levels. Generate orders, receive and check off deliveries. Ensure that all facilities and equipment are kept clean and tidy. Recognise and report potential problems. Adhering to procedures and reporting deviations and changes. Assist with quality improvement activities within the Quality Management System. Perform validation of equipment and be involved in the generation of validation documentation. Maintenance of filing of all relevant records, reports and other documentation associated with QC, record any anomalies and report appropriately. Communicate with external agencies where appropriate, including QC laboratories, Manufacturers and Consumers (i.e. obtaining Certificates of Analysis/Documentation). Participate in personal development programme to ensure skills and knowledge are maintained and advanced in accordance with the needs of the post-holder and the service requirements. Commitment to participate in weekend working, when required to meet needs of service. Deputise for the QC Operations Team Leader and Contamination Control Officer. Arrange regular meetings with the QC team to review actions and provide support. Train and mentor other team members. Contribute as a team member in larger (site wide) changes and improvements. Other duties as required by the Quality Control Operations Team Leader / QA Manager / Head of Quality. Participate in QA rota systems within the QA team in order to deliver service commitments.
