This is an exciting opportunity to shape and influence the future of transport at a forward-thinking local authority. This is a diverse role, working closely with other planners, engineers and transport planners to prepare planning applications and conditions for rail and road schemes across the county. About us: Lancashire County Council is one of the largest local authorities in the UK, covering a substantial urban and rural area in north-west England encompassing 12 district councils. We have a substantial portfolio of transport funding, including allocations from the Active Travel, Major Road Network and Levelling Up Funds. About the role: The successful candidate will work as part of the planning section of a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary team, planning and delivering transport schemes across Lancashire. Day to day you will have a range of responsibilities as you work on projects through the full life cycle. There will be a strong focus on environmental planning and EIA co-ordination and the successful candidate will be expected to provide technical advice and support to major transport projects. You will work in collaboration with other subject matter specialists, stakeholders and framework consultants. With support from the Planning Team Leader and Senior Planner, you will be expected to manage your own workload. You can expect to be active on a number of projects at any given time – these can vary in both scale and nature, making the workload both interesting and technically challenging. About you: You will have opportunity to write the supporting documents for the Environmental Statement of planning applications and Habitat Regulations Assessments. You will undertake the role of Environmental co-ordinator on the planning applications. You will be reviewing documents produced by colleagues and consultants to support the planning applications and planning conditions. You will provide environmental advice on planning applications and discharging of planning conditions. You will have a relevant planning or environmental degree or similar and have post qualification relevant experience in the public or private sector. You will be a member of IEMA working towards being a Registered EIA Practitioner. You will be expected to produce plans to support planning applications and planning conditions using ArcPro.
