One of our partners, Jonathan Watmough, is recruiting for a consultant solicitor to join his busy professional negligence team. His clients are varied but are invariably established businesses, other professionals or high-net-worth individuals.
The role
This is a client-facing role and will involve working on relatively high value and often complex claims against a variety of professionals, including solicitors, accountants, insurance brokers and surveyors. While in the majority of cases you would be acting for the claimant, there may also be occasions where you would act for an uninsured defendant.
The role does not require candidates to generate any of their own work, but is likely to involve some business development activity.
The role is part-time and negotiable in terms of commitment, requiring a contractual minimum of 7.5 hours / 1 day per week and up to a contractual maximum of 22.5 hours / 3 days per week.
The benefits
This is a great opportunity for a candidate looking for:
* A position within a UK Top 50 commercial law firm.
* A litigation orientated role.
* The opportunity to be part of a well-respected, specialist team.
* The challenge and reward of good quality work.
* A guaranteed minimum number of contracted hours.
* Flexible working hours.
* The added lifestyle benefits that remote working can provide.
* A level of autonomy and independence commensurate with individual experience.
* Freedom from office politics, precedent and bureaucracy.
Suitable candidates
This role would suit a litigation solicitor with a minimum of 8 years PQE, who has some experience of acting for claimants and/or defendants in professional negligence claims.
Candidates should be comfortable working both within a team and independently, and to a very high standard.
The team
The core team currently compromises of Jonathan Watmough and Sharon Duncan, who are supported by a wider team of senior and junior lawyers, as well as experienced and highly responsive IT, marketing, accounting and compliance departments.
Jonathan has specialised exclusively in professional negligence claims for over 20 years and is both ‘top ranked’ and ‘recommended’ by Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500 respectively.
Sharon has over 25 years of litigation experience, having previously worked at DLA, Addleshaw Goddard and Squire Patton Boggs. Sharon is also ‘recommended’ for professional negligence by The Legal 500.
The firm
Keystone is a firm that was founded upon a desire to do things differently. The original concept was to build a law firm in which lawyers could focus on working with clients, free from management obligations and administrative distractions, whilst being helped by teams of people who are there to support them. The concept endures to this day.
Keystone is a multiple award-winning Top 50 UK firm that continues to make waves in the legal sector. Our lawyers are ranked in Chambers & Partners and Legal 500, and in November 2020, we were named Law Firm of the Year at the prestigious The Lawyer Awards, the ultimate accolade in the legal profession. In January 2021, Keystone was also crowned Happiest Law Firm of the Year by RollOnFriday. Keystone lawyers are known to be some of the most satisfied and driven individuals in the legal profession.
