Fleet Manager Job Description
Responsibilities:
1. Coach Dispatch team to company and department goals.
2. Engage with drivers daily for check-ins.
3. Assist drivers with issues such as:
1. Breakdowns
2. Accidents
3. Customer issues
4. Develop efficient driver schedules to maximize profits, ensuring:
1. All drivers meet quarterly goals.
2. Dead Head is maintained at company goal standards.
3. Booking second loads daily for drivers.
5. Input accurate load information for billing, ensuring:
1. All loads are ready to be sent to billing by Friday.
2. Payroll receives all necessary reports, including:
1. Driver assistance pay
2. Driver breakdown pay
6. Manage drivers to adhere to strict schedules, including:
1. Managing driver PC time.
2. Ensuring on-time deliveries.
3. Reviewing Hours of Service periodically to ensure drivers have adequate time to deliver loads.
7. Identify ways to cut costs and maximize profits by working with the Operations Manager to analyze profits and implement cost-cutting measures.
8. Develop strategies for greater fuel efficiency.
9. Maintain detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspections.
10. Comply with U.S. Department of Transport laws and regulations, ensuring drivers adhere to DOT driver log policies.
11. Monitor driver behavior and ensure a high level of customer service, including:
1. Providing positive reinforcement for drivers.
2. Encouraging drivers to perform well.
3. Conducting progressive discipline for drivers violating company policies.
12. Analyze data to increase business operational efficiency.
13. Utilize GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles for safety purposes.
14. Complete driver reimbursements.
15. Complete reports on duties performed as a Fleet Manager.
16. Maintain customer relationships by:
1. Communicating with customers daily.
2. Utilizing PGT's network.
