We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Production Manager to oversee our production operations including the delivery of all Tods product on time to quality and regulatory requirements, technical leadership, resource and workload planning.
The role involves management of a team of multi-skilled, diverse operational operative within the Portland factories and off-site teams working in the UK and worldwide. The responsibilities cover a wide range of both production and logistics management, covering composite materials including glass and carbon fibre resin systems, polyurethanes. This role is critical in ensuring that our production processes are efficient, effective, and aligned with our quality control standards. The Production Manager will play a key role in driving continuous improvement initiatives and is responsible for the management, supervision and control of manufacturing production, processes and people to meet company targets.
Responsibilities
* Manage daily production activities to ensure timely delivery of products while maintaining quality standards and drive to achieve 'Right First Time' manufacturing ensuring zero defects to the customer, whilst minimising internal rejects to budgeted level or below.
* Ensure all documentation complies with AS9100 standards and any underlying engineering procedures are adhered to.
* All data is recorded accurately and in line with company policies and systems and is audited periodically.
* Productivity is achieved to plan, whilst in line with budgeted expectations.
* Drive order delivery to meet contract dates and own the escalation issues to resolution.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance business processes and streamline operations.
* Support composite development in line with production requirements/bottlenecks.
* Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
* Conduct regular inspections of production equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
* Train and mentor production staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.
* Analyse production data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
* Business Management BA (Hons), HNC
* Ability to gain UKSC
Knowledge / Skills:
* 10+ years’ experience in a production management role within a manufacturing environment.
* Excellent understanding of business processes related to manufacturing operations.
* Continuous improvement, zero defect and customer focused mindset.
* High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives within a team setting.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen attention to detail.
* Familiarity with MRP systems is highly desirable.
* Computer literate and 3D model based definition (CATIA preferred).
* Understanding of Aerospace/Defence control requirements with specific experience of composite material processing and component production processes.
