The Opportunity
Leonardo is looking for a Project Engineering Lead (PEL) within the Training Academy, which is part of the Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) sector of our EW line of business. The PEL is responsible on a day to day basis for the success of all of the training activities on their assigned project, providing their team with clear expectations of the training milestones, ensuring adherence to company policies & procedures.
The PEL helps develop the Training Team, providing mentoring, coaching, setting objectives and appraising them of their performance.
This opportunity is based from Lincoln office.
What you’ll do as a PEL
1. Lead the training design, development and delivery aspects of the Project, ensuring technical quality, schedule and budget
2. Management of personnel, ensuring that roles within the teams are clearly defined
3. Create a positive working relationship with customers and partners, to deliver the projects training capability
4. Establish and maintain good lines of communication internally across the Engineering Management community, the Academy IPT lead, Project Managers, and functional heads
5. Work closely with training Governance and Systems Design Authority ensuring they are fully informed on technical progress, technical risk and any mitigation strategies
6. Ensuring the training solution meets the end user requirement, is complete, fully documented and compatible with the business area route map
7. Control training configuration and change management to ensure design reuse is maximised.
8. Run bids and estimating activities from a technical point of view
9. Support the management of Suppliers and project Make or Buy decisions
10. Candidate concept solutions are captured, including the results of any trade off studies and end user engagement
Travel within the UK or abroad, working alongside other teams within Leonardo, Customers, End Users and Industry Partners.
What we need from you:
You really must have:
11. Strong technical / engineering background ideally within the EW, training domains
12. Good written and verbal communication skills
13. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
14. Strong leadership, but can also demonstrate team working skills
15. Experience of working across the full engineering development life cycle
It would be nice if you had:
16. Degree qualified (or equivalent) in an engineering / technical subject
17. Good problem solving ability
18. Understanding of Electronic Warfare Operational Support
19. Commercial and business awareness
