A day in the life of the Production Manager is to manage the day-to-day and strategic operations of the production area using the Fortive Business System, with responsibility for producing product to defined quality standards at the minimum feasible cost.
The role offers significant levels of flexibility in the day to day schedule, allowing the ideal candidate to define their own schedule, set production priorities and optimize processes as they see fit.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for subordinate Managers and extended team’s adherence to all processes within assigned area(s), including contributing to the development and implementation of new processes and to the continual improvement of existing processes.
* Responsible for delivery of revenue, reduction of Past Due Customer Backlog and On Time Delivery of assigned products shipped from the Norwich facility.
* Trains/facilitates the training of team members to defined standard process and ensures ongoing adherence to the standard.
* Responsible for performance management of defined team, including but not limited to; Performance appraisals, Monthly 1:1 reviews, Disciplinary Investigations, Disciplinary Hearings.
* Responsible for the development of defined team, including but not limited to; Fluke/Fortive supplied training materials, recommendation of external courses, 1:1 coaching/mentoring, Management coaching.
* To recommend appropriate career band status changes and/or salary increases for team members and reviewing/approving recommendations of subordinate managers.
* Uses the Daily Management process to manage team performance, drive improvement, focus and prioritize production support activities.
* Frequently tracks discretionary spend budgets to ensure production operates within assigned budgets wherever possible. Escalates budgetary issues to the Operations Manager where required.
* Responsible for the implementation of FBS (Fortive Business System) within the production area, including getting “buy in” and breadth/depth of understanding from the production employees.
The Team:
You will directly manage 2 new Production Team Leaders, giving the ideal candidate the opportunity to develop a fresh team within Fluke.
Your wider team will include ~15 production operators, working within the manufacturing cells. The whole team are from diverse backgrounds and previous roles, giving the team an excellent distribution of new ideas, concepts and attitudes.
Experience:
Prior experience with team leadership is essential, as you will manage a large, diverse production team responsible for revenue. Any disruption to the team can have significant implications to customer delivery and revenue.
Prior lean production experience is highly desirable, to take a leading role at Fluke in optimizing the factory for lean processes and cost reduction.
Experience working in a technically complex environment (electronics manufacturing or repair for example) would be a huge benefit.
Personal Skills:

* PC Literacy including Microsoft Office, preferably (but not essential) also Jira/Confluence & Oracle
* Excellent communication skills
* Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge desirable
* Able to deal with complex personnel issues, taking advice from your line manager and HR
