Job Title: Application Architect (.NET) Location: Woking, Hybrid. (Minimum 2 days in office per week). Salary: £80,000-£90,000 DOE Reports to: Head of Architecture This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and innovative Application Architect to join our client's dynamic team. You will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing application solutions that meet business needs while ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in .NET frameworks and a proven track record of successfully designing and implementing migration strategies for modernising legacy systems. Prior experience in the FinTech/payments space is preferred. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of solutions that span technical, product, and application boundaries in close collaboration with the technology team. Define and implement a modern architecture strategy for migrating legacy .NET components to a future state platform. Work closely with Product Management and Architecture teams to ensure alignment with business goals. Evaluate and communicate technical trade-offs to stakeholders, while ensuring adherence to policies, standards, and industry best practices. Focus on non-functional requirements, such as performance optimization and security enhancements. Mentor and guide the engineering team, fostering a culture of architectural thinking and continuous improvement. Take ownership of solution design documentation and collaborate on product enhancements throughout the development lifecycle. Act as the subject matter expert on technical changes and provide estimates for new initiatives. Contribute to incident and problem management processes, including root cause analysis and solution definition. What You’ll Need: At least 10 years of experience in application design and development, with a minimum of 4 years focusing on .NET architecture. Extensive experience with Azure PaaS (Azure Web Apps, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, Azure SQL). Proficiency in C#, .NET Core, MVC, and API development. Strong expertise in application migration and modernisation strategies. Experience with containerization, Kubernetes, microservices, APIs, and event-streaming integration patterns. Experience in Agile methodologies and SDLC processes. Relevant cloud certifications (Azure) or enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF) are a plus. Strong communication skills, capable of leading discussions and presenting complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience in the financial software industry is a plus but not required.
