The job itself
Support worker required to cover current PA for holidays and absence when required. This could be up to 2 days per week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10am to 3pm) for up to 12 hours per week.
This will be to provide one to one support for 23-year-old male living in Driffield, at the day service Priory View in Bridlington or at the client's home in Driffield.
Young man support needs: severe Learning Disability and spastic quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. Young man also has epilepsy and is in a wheelchair.
Young man needs a 1:1 to support him to be inclusive with the activities offered at Priory View. Support to interact and engage with activities such as cooking, bowling, arts and crafts etc so that he can join in with the groups he attends. Young man can sometimes become overwhelmed by larger noisy groups and will become agitated, therefore support to leave the group in order to access a quiet area where he can calm down in his own time allowing him to re-join the group when he is ready. Young man will need support with all tasks/activities including personal care, meal/drink times, medication, going to and from sessions and engaging within them. Young man has limited movement in his hands so may need supporting to join in tasks in other way. Young man can take time to eat his lunch so will need someone who is patient to be able to support with this. Young man will join in with a wide range of activities and particularly enjoys a disco, however at times he prefers a quieter environment with 1-1 support so will need someone who is able to support him to a quieter area.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post – Cost to be met by the local authority.
