This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on our fabrication work, part of a project of national significance, while working with and learning from a team of experts.
We're launching a new 12 month project that will be both challenging and demanding. Are you ready to make an impact?
We're looking for a Project Engineer to work on a range of activities from test procedures to writing up tech specs that will drive the successful execution of pre-planned fabrication projects.
Who are A&P Tyne?
With the largest fabrication facilities on the East coast of England, we can build units for vessels, and also join them together.
Within our 24,000 square metre Fabrication Hall, where your projects will be based, we have a high bay construction hall for our new builds, a panel line, profile cutting and sub-assembly areas.
Using in-house capabilities to maintain tight project control, we work closely together with our customers to deliver what they need, as they need it, when they need it.
So what will you do?
1. With your Project Manager, you'll develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget management for fabrication projects.
2. You'll provide technical guidance and solutions to project challenges through reviewing and refining drawings and specifications.
3. With the fabrication team, you'll coordinate materials, tools, and equipment to meet project requirements.
4. Supporting the Project Manager, you'll monitor, maintain, and report progress and financial achievement of the project.
5. You'll identify potential bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to keep your projects on plan.
6. With each project, you'll finalize and document all project paperwork, including arranging project wash-up meetings.
And what are we looking for?
1. Competency with MS Office and planning tools (MS Project).
2. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
3. Experience in an engineering/structural engineering/shipbuilding environment.
4. Qualification at HNC/Degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
5. Commercial experience and knowledge of project management principles.
6. Personal Growth: This is an opportunity to make a significant impact while working with and learning from a team of experts from the marine and structural engineering industries. The chance to be part of a team making a real impact on the future of the business.
7. Financial Security: Important benefits like your Pension, which includes a monthly employer contribution by A&P Tyne up to 4%, and Life cover at 7 x your basic salary, are part of your package.
8. Healthy Living: At A&P Tyne, we support healthy living and provide help when it's needed. To ensure that you are able to take time off when you need it, we offer sick pay, and to cover everyday health, we have a health cash plan, which gives you access to money back on everyday healthcare costs. Your dental, optical, and physiotherapy as well as wellness services including counselling sessions, digital mental health support, 24/7 virtual GP, and an EAP are included.
9. Work-life Balance: We offer 25 days of annual leave per year plus Bank Holidays. Maternity, Paternity, and Parental leave support you during those significant life changes, helping you to balance your family responsibilities with work.
Due to the nature of what we do for some of the customers that we work with, some roles working for A&P are subject to security control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and your place of birth may limit those roles you can perform with us.
You must also undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before your employment starts, which will include a basic DBS check.
