We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Ward Clerk team on Ward One at Alnwick Infirmary.
The individual should have excellent communication, customer care, organisational and interpersonal skills. They should be able to provide a reception service, acting as the first point of contact via the telephone and face-to-face for patients, visitors and other healthcare professionals.
The post holders will be required to input data regarding all admissions, transfers and discharges on the Patient Administration System (PAS). Basic keyboard/computer skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision is essential.
The successful candidates must have the willingness to undertake training for the role.
The post holders must be flexible to meet the needs of the service and to cover annual leave.

Main Duties of the Job
1. To provide a reception service, acting as the first point of contact on the telephone or face-to-face, for patients, visitors and other healthcare professionals.
2. To facilitate good communication with other wards and departments involved in patient care or ward/departmental functioning.
3. To input data regarding all admissions, transfers and discharges onto the Patient Administration System.
4. To provide an efficient administration and clerical service to unit staff, visitors and patients.

Job Responsibilities
1. Provides an administration and clerical service to the medical, nursing and associated teams, including the patient and their relatives for an individual ward or department.
2. Provides customer care for all patients, relatives and carers and other healthcare professionals.
3. Demonstrates own role to other ward clerks and orients staff to department and ward systems.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* ECDL
* NVQ in Customer Care
Experience and Knowledge
* Previous office/reception experience.
* Previous NHS experience.
